Irfan Pathan's recent performances on the ongoing tour of Australia didn't go unnoticed as the Indian all-rounder was purchased for a whopping US $9,25,000 by Preity Zinta's [Images] Mohali Franchise in round six of the Indian Premier League players' auction on Wednesday.
The left-arm seamer, who base price was US $2,00,000, was far ahead of South Africa's Albie Morkel, who was snapped up by Chennai for US $6,75,000. |

Chappel is not too concerned with the form of Irfan Pathan, he thinks that “strike bowler and shock batsman” is just exhausted and needs some rest.
“I'm not overly concerned, to be honest. Being a young man he's striving to improve himself all the time. I would say at times he has worked too hard. We've tried to hold back the reins and get him to understand that rest days are as important to his development as a cricketer as training days,” Chappell told 'Cricinfo'.
One of the major problems is that the expectations people have when they see Irfan Pathan playing, they expect him to take a wicket everytime he comes on to the field. Greg said that the quick bowler was an integral part of the squad and would do really well in the worldcup in 2007.
He also added that being a pace bowler is not an easy task and is definitely the toughest in the game. |

Jhalak Kumari, a 20 year old female from Jamshedpur has come a long way to Baroda to meet Irfan Pathan or even marrying him, but this is turning into a pain for the residents of the building where Irfan stays.
Jhalak slept on a stone bench outside the locality which had people worried and told her to move to a more secure place. Now she says she wants to stay in the same area as Irfan Pathan at Binanagar Society.
People are worried as she still sleeps outside in the open, even though its a safe area the residents say its not quite appropriate! |

Gaekwad has come out and slammed Indian coach Greg Chappell for his comments regarding Irfan Pathan's lack of form and loss in confidence. He believes that the coach is not performing his duties well, "It is the coaches' job to instill confidence and rectify mistakes in a player", Said Gaekwad. Anshuman also believes that dropping him from the first test against the Windies didn't help the cause as it is bound to bring down Pathan's confidence even more. Andy Roberts helped out the young Indian Pacemen instead and helped him in his return for the 2nd Test. |

Irfan Pathan has been rested for the first test match versus the West Indies. He is not the only one to be out of the test, Harbhajan singh has also been rested says the Team Manager - Ravi Sawant. He claims this has been done due to the upcoming fixtures as the team has a busy schedule ahead with the Champions trophy and other tours.
The resting of Pathan seems reasonable, but i just can't understand why Harbhajan is out. |

Greg Chappel has come out and spoken about Irfan Pathan and his sudden loss of confidence. "He is low on confidence, and trying a bit too hard to bowl well" said the Indian coach. Chappel thinks Irfan is trying to bowl too quickly and erring in his line and lenght as a result. Lets just hope that Irfan gets to his best and starts bowling like he did in his previous matches. His record is one to be proud of at the moment, picking up wickets at a extremely good average of around 24. |
